A Well Designed Life is a Verb
A Well Designed Life is a Verb
“Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”
― Gloria Steinman
For everyone, stepping into the Disney world is like escaping our realities & entering the world of imagination. But why do we have to create a reality that we need to run from? Disney gave a new dimension to the art of realizing your imaginations. Why not design your life like Charlie’s chocolate factory if that’s what you want? There is no ‘going overboard when it comes to designing the blueprints of your life.
But before you do anything, take inventory of yourself. Deconstruct your life into pieces and observe them under the lens of perspective. Reconstruct it again to align with your purpose.
For a designer, the entire world is like a canvass waiting to be painted with the colors of imagination. And we are all designers hiding behind the cloaks of our regular non-artistic life.
Let’s reveal the designer in us.
- Unlock your imagination & throw away the key
Imagination is like a magic carpet that takes you to places you never knew existed. If you cannot imagine a life you want to live, you can never design it. An idea needs to exist in your mind for you to manifest it in the physical world. Build on your old experiences and observations to create an infinite space giving you enough scope to explore all the varied possibilities. Imagining an idea is like having a sneak peek into the future you dream of. Be bold enough to personalize your own Hogwarts.
- Lock your purpose
Close your eyes and imagine the kind of life you want. Now think hard about why you want such a life. Imagination without a purpose is day-dreaming. Define your purpose and stick to it with a desire that defines your breath. If you know what you exactly want, you make it easier for the world to make it happen for you. Even in a relationship sending mixed signals causes confusion and unnecessary obstacles. Let your purpose drive the design of your life. Plan a continuous action to realize your purpose. Keep tapping on to that purpose to stimulate the thoughts and helping them gain strength. When you wish for something with infinite desire, your brain will start popping new ideas on how to realize your dreams.
- Make your dreams tangible.
Commit your dreams on paper. Design a storyboard, stick it on your wall, surround yourself with everything that accentuates the life you dream of. Our minds are like workshops, which sometimes work in an autosuggestion mode, where the plans we create are worked upon. The more we surround ourselves with our ideas, the greater is the possibility of sending those signals to the subconscious, thereby feeding fuel to our dreams & desires. Nourish the seeds of your imaginations and visualize their germination.
- Tune in to similar frequencies
Associate yourself with people who share your frequency. Once you give life to an idea, it develops a soul of its own, nurtured by the people who have the vision to feel that soul. Collaborating with people who share your purpose is the secret ingredient in this soup of life. Harry Potter would have been just a boy with the scar had it not been for Hermoine and Ron.
Look at life with the glasses of imagination. Do not let anyone taint your life with the reality that is expected of you. It is like making a pie with perfectly sliced pieces representing family, career, passion, money, and so on. But the sizes of those pieces are highly customizable according to your vision.
Designing a life is like creating a prototype for your future, and there are absolutely no rules that define your prototype. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.
Some painters transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who, with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into sun.”
― Pablo Picasso
